He is wearing an Army hat in honor of his son that is in special forces in the Army.. I will be delivering this to them in a few days once it dries. Hope they like it! My Surreal Life and My Wacky Art World

I decided last week to my first self portrait. I thought I could do just a regular portrait but that sounded boring to me, so I thought putting my image on a dress mannequin was more suitable to my personality and my wacky world. I love and live in the desert so that suited me also for this piece and is also a good back drop to Items and characters I used that were in previous paintings of mine like Crash my Dog, misfit potato head, My sock monkey doll,my stick figure to the back right, The Lemon Blimp, and my protecting baby series with the pears. I own an antique dress mannequin from 1910 so this just felt like my art world bringing everything together. The original is 30x24x1.5 oil and won't be for sale. I will add a link where prints will be available of this one and all my other work.

Oil Painting -Don't Listen To Schooling!!!

I don't understand why many schools insist students need to use mediums and turpentine to paint with oil paints! It's not true. It's toxic and a headache. when you want to wash your brushes all you need is DAWN dish soap or Murphey's oil soap. I do have a glass jar 1/5 filled with terpenoid natural in the green can and is citrus based to soak my brushes after painting till I get to the sink to wash which is like a month but that's it! If anyone has anymore questions about this feel free to ask. I also find Oil paint is cheaper to paint with than acrylics.

This one is the first in a series called "Rat Race" I am currently working on another taking place on a golf course.

his one above is "That Damn GPS!" Finished this one last week. I used a 1959 Cadillac, This one really cracks me up, I plan on making this into a series and a 2nd one will come up down the line. 24x30 oil

"Super Rat" 12x16 oil. he was a cool character I came up with a few days ago that I want to do other paintings with. He has such a retro quality to him.

The one above is "Protecting Baby 6" A lengthy series I have been doing over 6 years. The Pears always represent people where the Mama pear is protecting baby pear from danger. All my others are in private collections from around the world, this is the only one available. 18x24 oil

Above; "The Winner of the Ugly Dog Contest 2011" 12x16 oil
when I saw this little guy in the news I just couldn't resist doing a painting of him so he is out there for ever now with love. Poor, cute in his own way little guy!

"The Ugly Duckling" 12x16 Oil
This just came to mind one evening, but instead of ugly I think he came out being a little too cute and maybe a bit tipsy lol. I still like it though. Everyone have a great weekend! Sorry I had been behind in adding new work, have had many shows to deal with and I'm a mom. Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
